An antique Victorian green leather spectacle case, containing antique gold plated reading glasses. We believe the case & glasses would date to the later part of the 19th Century, circa 1880s to 1890s. The case measures 7 inches (17.5 cm) long & approx 1 1/2 inches (4 cm) wide. The spectacles are: Lens measurement approx 1 1/2 inches (3.5 cm) by 1 inch (2.5 cm) Bridge approx. 6/8 inch (2 cm) Across hinge to hinge 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm) Total cable/arm length to back of ear approx. 5 1/4 inches (13.5 cm) CONDITION The case is in a good conditon,but does have some wear & has faded a little (please see our photographs). The spectacle frames are in good condition with a little tarnish in places. The glass lenses are not broken or chipped. One of the arm end loops is a little distorted. There is vey light magnification to the lenses. Please note that as the items we sell are antique or vintage, most of them will have been used for the purpose that was intended. Therefore they may have signs of wear in keeping with age & use. Any damage will be described with accompanying photographs.
